Overview - Screen Shots - Download - Change Log - Additional Displays - Plug-In Modules - Feedback

5/26/01 - Released version 2001.0526  -- Rewrote video mode changing code to allow it to support more drivers.  Updated palettes. -- core changed

2/4/01 - Released version 2001.0204  -- Added plugin for Microsoft's Windows Media Player.  Changed a bunch of minor stuff in the UI.    Updated and added lots of new settings (Thanks L8_2_DI!).   -- core changed.

8/16/00 - Released version 2000.0816  --  Added an interactive preview window so that you can see the effects of your settings changes as you make them.   -- core changed.

7/25/00 - Released version 2000.0723  -- Updated settings.  Added support for WinAMP.    -- core changed.

6/12/00 - Released version 2000.0612  -- Updated and enhanced many of the settings.  Added new tiling options to most of the modules to allow unreflected tiling.  Added several performance optimizations.  Tweaked the UI a bit to make it more comprehensible.  -- core changed, UI changed.

1/23/00 - Released version 2000.0123  -- There are lots of tweaks and bug fixes in this release and over 100 new settings (Thanks L8_2_DI!).   You can now add multiple versions of the same module for some modules.  Added an interactive preview window.   It's in beta at the moment so the feature is hidden by default but  pressing F10 on the "Edit Displays" page will display a "Preview" button that you can use to bring up an interactive preview window.  This can be very helpful when exploring the effects of the various controls.   We've also changed our version formatting.  It's now in the format of yyyy.mmdd so 2000.0123 would be January 23rd, 2000.  -- core changed, UI changed.

12/11/99 - Released version 4.5.1506 -- Completely redesigned (and vastly improved) user interface.  Much better sound synchronization -- core changed, UI changed.

8/15/99 - Released version 4.0.1320 -- Better sound synchronization -- core changed.

7/17/99 - Released version 4.0.1300 - Updated sound code to work with new version of CD/Spectrum Pro.  Fixed a problem that kept users from being prompted for a password when the password timeout wasn't set to 0 on the auxiliary settings page of the Psych config dialog.

5/1/99 - Released version 4.0.1220 - Rewrote parts of the UI in order to reduce resource usage.   Added two new controls (on page 4 of each module) that allow you to set the volume range that a module will draw within.   The units represent a percentage of the maximum  volume so if you set the "Draw Start" to 50 and the "Draw Stop" to 100, the module will only draw when the audio volume is greater than 50% of the maximum volume.  This control is particularly useful when you have several modules selected and you want to have each draw at different volume levels rather than all at the same time.   If no audio is available, the volume fluctuations are simulated using an sine wave.  Lastly, inverting the start/stop values will cause a module not to draw when the volume is between the specified range.

4/25/99 - Released version 4.0.1200 - Completely rewrote the Effects module and, by request, added a clock effect  (see the "Clock" Display for a demo).   Added new parameters to the Vortex module.   The following settings have been added to demonstrate some of the new features:

[S] Nice Shot, [S] The Matrix, [S] Wince, Climax, Clock, Dizzy, Chaos, The Rush

The following settings have been modified to take advantage of new capabilities:

[S] Pulse Circle II, [S] Pulse Circle, [S] Star II, Electric, Escher, Evolution III, Evolution, Jungle, Mold, Orgasmatronic II, Orgasmatronic, Painting, Refresh, Sean II, Vortex Slurry

1/4/99 - Added the Cube module -- see the following settings for a demo: "Army", "Floater", "Kaleidoscope", and  "Swarm".  Added a key stroke to display the title of the currently running display (Just press "T" while a display is running).  Added animation handling capabilities to the Slideshow module.  It currently accepts animations saved as a series of BMP files where each BMP file comprises a single frame of the animation.   Each frame should have an integer for the file extension indicating the frame number (not zero padded).  For example, c;\anim.1, c;\anim.2, c;\anim.3....  Within the Slideshow module, just enter the first frame of the animation in the filename field. -- Cube added, core changed.

12/1/98 - Added a very minor feature to the Vortex module that allows the rotation direction to be reversed periodically.  For a demo of the feature, check out the setting title Pseudose -- run it and keep your eyes focused on the center of the vortex for about 15 seconds then take a look at your hand.  -- Reality changed.

11/27/98 - Fixed a problem that prevented the animations from resuming after the password dialog was dismissed.  -- Core changed.

11/11/98 - Added a keystroke (press 'W') for setting the current image as the desktop wallpaper. Updated sound code to work with new version of CDSPro. -- Core changed.

10/18/98 - Released version 4.0.1085 - Added screen capture capability.  Press the 'S' key to capture the current screen to a file in the "Screen Shots" subdirectory in the directory where Psych was installed.    You can hold the 'S' key down to capture multiple frames.  The captured images are saved as numbered BMP files (like PSY-0001.BMP, PSY-0002.BMP, etc...) so they are easy to import into an imaging application or a GIF animator.   You can control the size of the captured images using the "Scale factor for screen captures" slider on the "Auxiliary Settings" page of the Psych configuration dialog. -- Core changed.

9/1/98 - Released version 4.0.1060 - Fixed a problem that prevented the screen colors from being restored properly on some systems when the display mode was being dynamically set through the "Video Mode" panel.  -- Core changed.

8/21/98 - Released version 4.0.1050 - Fixed a problem that prevented Plug-In modules from correctly reading their control values.  Added centering values to Sphere and Bezier modules.  -- Plug-In SDK changed, Plug-Ins changed, Core changed, Sphere and Bezier modules changed.

1/25/98 - Released version 3.9.971 - Updated sound sync capabilities to support the latest version of CD Spectrum Pro (v3.3).  Added an "Amplitude homing" control to the sound settings panel -- this controls how often the maximum amplitude used by the auto-gain is reevaluated.   This should help the sound sync react better to volume changes in the music.  --  Core changed.

1/11/98 - Released version 3.9.950 - This version supports Plug-In modules developed with the beta version of the Plug-In SDK.  See our Plug-In page for more information about Plug-In Modules (including information on how to write your own).   --  Core changed.

12/30/97 - Released version 3.9.900 - Updated the install to reduce disk space usage and add Start menu group.  Changed some of the object   drawing (Star, Whip, and Cyclic) code to address a limitation in some video drivers.  Drawing should be faster (and visible <g>) with two vertices on all drivers.  -- Star, Whip, and Cyclic changed.  Core changed.
